The first run in the Rail to Trail series and what a way to start! We've organised a fantastic run across some of the rolling hills and fields of Northwest Essex. There will be some great views for you to enjoy as you wind your way across the open spaces we've chosen for the Rail to Trail - North run. You will be spending your time running along footpaths, bridleways and farm tracks and as always with the Rail to Trail series, there are the three distances for you to choose from; 10(ish)k, half(ish) marathon or marathon(ish). The routes are all circular and will be well signposted, allowing you to just get on with enjoying the running and the beautiful surroundings. The marathon route is two loops of the half marathon. You will then know exactly what is in store for your second loop; where to ease off, where to really open up, all to give you the best chance of achieving a negative split!

Sign up for a single race or be bold, enter the whole series and get a 15% discount.

We've secured a great and very conveniently located event base at Newport Village hall. A mere 50 metre walk will take you from the station to registration. Nothing too far or tiring before you start your big run!

You will receive your race number and electronic chip timer at registration. There will also be a small amount of paper work to complete, so don't leave it to the last minute and have a mad rush before the race has even begun! The race briefing is mandatory for all runners and will take place immediately before the race starts. This is where you will be given important information about race rules, safety and last minute course changes.

Start times are staggered to limit any possibility of congestion along the route. Your friends can therefore sign up to different distance runs but not have to wait around for too long for each other once you've finished. There will though, be some refreshments available at race HQ and you can help support others over the finish line. Share your running high and excitement with friends and strangers alike!

As with all the Rail to Trail events, the event is set up so that you can travel to and from by train. This helps limit our impact on the environment, means that you don't have to worry about driving tired and you can also enjoy a celebratory drink after you've finished! However, should you need to drive, local parking is available. There is a pay and display car park at the station (conveniently located right next door to race HQ). Obviously, parking is limited and as such we are strong advocates of car sharing. Please see our Facebook page to arrange this - great for the environment and great for making new trail running friends! Should the car park be full, you will need to find alternative local parking. If this is the case, please be mindful and courteous to our neighbours; after all, we are all visitors to their town.

The results!

As soon as they are available, the results for the 2015 event will be available here
